about ciphermap

Make cryptographic migration work visible before it becomes urgent.

CipherMap is an early-stage, local-first CLI product for discovering cryptographic usage in source code, organizing readiness evidence, and helping teams plan deliberate post-quantum migration work.

Why it exists

Inventory is the beginning of the program

Cryptography is spread across application code, dependencies, configuration, protocols, and infrastructure. No single source-code scanner can represent all of it. CipherMap focuses on making the repository layer inspectable, exportable, and easier to discuss with engineering, security, and audit stakeholders.

The product starts with local discovery because sensitive repositories should not need a hosted upload to produce a useful first inventory. Evidence and enterprise workflow layers are being developed behind explicit commercial and qualification boundaries.

Operating principles

Trust is a product constraint

Local before hosted

Security teams should be able to inspect repositories and produce useful findings without uploading proprietary source to a vendor service.

Evidence before confidence language

A compile, contract test, or detection profile is not a certification. CipherMap names the evidence it has and the qualification it still needs.

Migration, not a magic switch

Cryptographic modernization begins with inventory and prioritization. CipherMap is intended to support that work, not replace engineering, policy, or audit judgment.
